Rice Cereal Treat Pumpkins!

Happy Halloween!!!

Hey everyone! Today I am excited to share with you one of my FAVORITE Halloween treats to make with my kids. Rice Krispy Treat Pumpkins are so easy to make and very fun for the kids. It’s a great way to get your little ones involved in the kitchen and also a great way to get ready for Halloween and Trick or Treating.

The recipe is very simple and you only need a few things to make them:

5-6 Cups of rice cereal (I used 5 because I like my rice cereal treats to be a little gooey.

10oz bag of regular sized marshmallows

3-4 tbsp. of butter (I used 4 for extra flavor)

A bottle of orange gel food color. I prefer using Americolor.

Some spooky eyes!

And of course...Halloween candy! We used Tootsie Rolls for the stems.

Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients, let’s get started!

Step 1) Melt your butter on the stove or either in the microwave. I like to melt mine over the stove until it turns into “Brown Butter”. I love the extra flavor I get with brown butter. Yum!

Step 2) Pour in your marshmallows and stir until completely melted. As you can see, my marshmallows have a bit of a brown tint and that’s ok… it’s just from the brown butter.

Step 3) Add your gel food coloring.

Step 4) Add your rice cereal about 2 cups at a time and then mix with the marshmallows.

Step 5) Once all the marshmallows and rice cereal has mixed together, let them cool a little and begin decorating!

**Add a little cooking spray or shortening to your hands to keep the rice cereal treats from sticking to your hands when rolling into balls.
